In honour of Dr. Li Wenliang
To honour those who passed away when no treatment options were known or available.
The Chinese ophthalmologist Li Wenliang was one of the first doctors to raise the alarm about a cluster of SARS-like pneumonia cases of unknown cause in his hospital. He was ordered by the Chinese government not to raise his voice about these unknown pneumonia cases. After temporary imprisonment, he returned to work and got infected by the coronavirus himself by an asymptomatic patient with glaucoma (high eye pressure), who was visiting Dr Li Wenliang. Soon after getting infected by this patient without symptoms, Dr Li Wenliang developed a cough and a fever, and was hospitalized. He died from the coronavirus infection at the age of 33 as a national hero for many Chinese people.
Personal note: for me, doctor Li Wenliang showed that doctors all over the world work according to the best of their knowledge, and always in the best interest of their patients, at THIS moment in time: Doctors JustB. By warning the public, he raised awareness about the Corona disease for which no cure exists, only support. We need to unite our forces to find a vaccine as soon as possible. Doctor Li Wenliang was an example for all doctors.
